snow/ice wheeling

We had a great Day wheeling.  Myself, my dad, Brian, and Wrangler Forum member/friend Chuck came out to play this morning.   Things went well for the most part.  Brians Scout is in my driveway but ill get to that later.

We started out on Jacoby coming from the 18.  Things went well not too much snow but alot of ice.  we ran into a couple inclines covered with ice that gave us a little trouble.  Brian only need a quick tug up one hill on jacoby just so he wouldnt slide down into Chuck.
Heres a couple Jacoby pics.

After we blazed through Jacoby we hit up Gold Mountain.

Things went pretty well.  Chuck almost needed a strap on the ice but he was able to spin his way up.

we checked out the Rock Garden and thats when the trouble started.
I took the hard line up the rocks and Brian took the lower line and beat me to the end.  at the end something happened and Brian twisted his rear driveshaft. after it twisted it snapped and after a few minutes of removing it and pulling him through the end we turned him around and had my dad drag the scout through the Rock garden in my jeep.  sorry no pics guys i had my hands full with guiding two rigs through the garden at the same time.

With brian in front wheel drive (very reminisant of a big green scout) we where able to limp him off the trail.

I know brian has a few good pics on his camera.  Now the reason brians scout is in my driveway is cause this was the ONE time he forgot his spare shafts. so I sent him down the hill with my jeep and hes gonna be bringing up parts tomorrow morning.

He wasnt able to drive down the hill in his scout due to big vibes comming from his front d shaft at low speeds.

i dunno what's going on this time but i had a nasty vibration going home. put my hands on the u-joints and they weren't hot so i dunno what it could be right now. thanks again to kevin for helping me out turning wrench and letting me borrow your jeep to get home last night and pick up my parts.

Unbalanced driveshaft can do that.

i'm not so sure, since i have used that driveshaft before and it didn't do that. and the vibration got 10 times worse when i stepped on the clutch.

the pilot bearing can also cause a nasty one.
