WELL, THE DEAL WITH THE DODGE SLAMMING IS DODGE HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH CHEVROLET, FORD IS PROBABLY A CLOSER COMPETITOR, AND I'M ONLY TALKING ABOUT ENGINE STRENGTH OF GAS MOTORS, YES I KNOW DODGE HAS THE FAMOUS HEMI BUT IN FOUR WHEELER, PETERSONS 4WHEEL DRIVE, AND CAR CRAFT, (I SUBSCRIBE TO ALL THREE) THEY ALL AGREE THAT THE NEW HEMI SURE DOESN'T FEEL LIKE 345 HP UNDER THE HOOD, AND I WOULD PUT A CHEVROLET 6.0 LITER WITH ABOUT THE SAME HP AND TQ RATINGS AS THE HEMI BUT THE 6.0 LITER IS SAID TO HAVE LESS TQ AND HP THAN THE HEMI AND I BET THE CHEVROLET WOULD OUT PULL IT. BUT LIKE YOU SAID THIS IS CHEVROLET VS FORD AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE BROUGHT UP HOW MUCH I DON'T LIKE DODGE, BUT LIKE I SAID IN MY FIRST ENTRY IT'S ALL A MATTER OF PREFRENCE AND WHAT YOU GREW UP ON, BUT THAT'S ENOUGH ABOUT DODGE. THE NEW FORD TRITON MOTOR IS TRULY A PIECE OF JUNK. IN PETERSON'S 4WHEEL & OFF-ROAD THEY ARE BUILDING A DESERT RUNNER OUT OF A NEW F-150, AND MAGNAFLOW EXHAUST PUT A EXHAUST SYSTEM ON IT FOR THEM AND THEN DYNO TESTED IT, KEEP IN MIND THAT EXHAUST USUALLY ADDS A COUPLE EXTRA HP TO WHATEVER RIG YOUR RUNNING. WELL "THE FACTORY HP RATING FOR THE NEW F-150 IS 300 HP AT 5000 RPM AND THE FACTORY TQ IS 365 AT 3750 RPM" AND MY PETERSONS 4WHEEL & OFF-ROAD SAYS THAT WHEN IT WAS ON THE DYNO THAT "PEAK HP IS 234 AT 5100 RPM " MAN THAT HURTS MR. FORD MAN, AND THE "PEAK TQ IS 290 AT 3800 RPM" SO I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD BRING THOSE FACTS UP. AND NOW I HAVE A FEELING THAT THE FORD MAN WILL CHANGE THE SUBJECT TO A DIFFERENT FORD ENGINE, BUT I'M JUST BRINGING UP HOW GREAT A TRUCK THE NEW F-150 IS AND ONE MORE THING IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME IT'S THE DEC OF 03' ISSUE OF PETERSONS, R.I.P. MR FORD MAN

Howdy jusy like to say ito had to pull a chevy cable installation truck out of the mud with my Ford F250 two wheel drive oh it had a460 in it but after building it back from the ground up engine wise i gave it to my let's say it in adiscreet fashion x-friend or wife actualy unwiilingly she got it but the divorce should be final over done on 4th of feb. I've got an F-150 mine straight six 4 speed 4wd. any ways i bought add aleaves and a 2 1/2 inch lift kit cheap only 2 1/2 inch blocks axle drop kit front coils i did buy 4 gas shocks instead of air shocks for it. can I give it 2 inch body lift ? I've bought extended gas shocks for the 2 1/2 inch lift but not sure what else I'll have to change if I do a 2inch body lift,I'm goingto have the truck re allinged afterwards .To much coffee MNT.RAT

i agree with chevys pulling fords out, i own a 75 chevy with a small block 350 it took alot of beatins during its time and still runnin strong i have to say chevys are much stronger than fords, i have a friend who owns a 79 Ford F-150 he tried to tackle going thru the mud and the mud was pure thick but got stucked half ways so i ended up pulling him out i would show some pics but i didnt have a camera cause we were way out in the back fields of the country haulin wood and let me tell u this my 75 chevy doesnt have any suspension lifts just a 2in body lift thats all nothing to special and it stilled pulled him out with fords they have these coil springs up front but they seem to ware going off road too much cause i used to own a 78 Ford and i had a pair of 16 x7 in. (and that too had a 2inch body lift). rims on them everytime i hit a wash out the tires would always hit the inner fender wells one time i almost flipped trying to go down a steep hill, where i live its rough country and people prefer to drive chevys cuz there more elivated so that was that i guess i cheated death but im not trying to diss ford or anything they just need some work

I keep reading about Ford's pulling Chevy's out of the mud and Chevy's pulling Ford's out. Some are even 2wd pulling out 44" bogger shod rigs. You must think your rig is really something? Cmon', let's get real here! How many of you pulled out the other truck and then crossed the mud bog yourself?? You have nothing to brag about unless you pulled the other guy out and then rubbed it in his face by blowing through the obstacle that he couldn't pass through. All you did was help somebody in need. That's it. That is a good thing though, maybe when you get stuck someone will help you out.
As far as reliablitity goes, I've seen Chevy's tow Ford's after a break down, and visa versa. I've towed both and many other make's in my Scout after they break down, and I've been towed by both after I breakdown. There are some things like fan belts, hoses, and that loose bolt that you didn't see that just have a tendancy to go when you least expect it, and unless you have an extra and tools (which I'm sure all of you carry when you're driving home from work or playing in the mud) then you'll probably settle for a tow. I'm probably correct in assuming that no one wants to continue driving until they see an autozone and risk blowing their engine.
All makes have their strong points and weak points. Toyota's 22RE engine will outlast any other engine on the road, but they lack HP. That's pretty much indisputable. Chevy's 350 is possibly the most common engine on the road. They were made for longer than any engine, had more applications than most other engine's. They are a dime a dozen, have a huge aftermarket following, have a massive parts availablity, and can be built up for less money than any engine. They also leak like a siv. Chevy's interior's and exterior's don't tend to last as long as other vehicle's do. Dodge is generally on the cutting edge of exterior design. The frames on their 90's trucks were as strong as straw, they had good running gear though. Ford's as a rule last longer than most trucks. They have their lemon's just like everyone else. They don't offer the best stock engine, but have a good optional one. They also are the first to jump on issue's that the public is concerned about. They handled the whole safety issue well.

there is a reason that u pull more chevys out than the fords fords cant go in mud, so they stay a way from it or they go in the ez stuff that if u have 2 hp and 2 wheeldrive u can get out of it. so that is y u have never had to pull out a ford truck.

i'm with mr. nut and mr. suburban, i've owned everything but a ford, and they have all ran great. most of the time trucks break down because peaple don't maintain them. you are supposed to change the belts before they break! when was the last time yhe oil was changed? and as far as pulling trucks out of the mud goes. i have pulled my 69 powerwagon on 44s out several times with my nissan. mostly because i kept breaking driveline parts. not to mention the fact that i have a trail on my property that only my nissan can make it up when it's wet. this thing has no lockers or limited slips, and over 200,000 miles on it. but it does have 5 inches of susp. lift and 34x9.5 swampers on it with 4.62 gears. if the water wasn't too deep it would go any where my dodge went because of the ifs, you could ride the skid plate, steer back and forth while revving the wee out of it. it does look silly pulling the pw out [ i have pictures].

you said that your Z-71 thats stock and has all terains on it. u said I will pull your ford all over the place. u really think in mud you can pull any ford or any other truck that wieghts more or is modified around. first thing your truck is a 1/2 ton truck. second the tires are going to clog up and spin. third its stock no extra power no extra clearance and no tires that will help u float. i mit believe that if it wasnt a stock truck...

Some people have been vacinated with a brand in their blood that can never be altered or changed. They would rather walk seven miles home at midnight in the rain before they would admit that their brand X left them down. Having owned and worked on most brands there is no true winner just personal choices. And everyone is entitled to them. After almost twenty years of being involved with obstacle course style mud racing and tuff trucks. And from what I've seen at Muddy Run Raceway. I personally would racing a Ford and towing it to the track with my Chevy. And it happens!!!! www.muddy run raceway.com
