I think this is a easy choice here. Not knocking the CJ but the defender is a tuff little cookie and also the British government bought them for military usage too which adds to its credibility.

i would suppose that it depends on your decision to keep things "factory" or not... there are so many ad-on's and kit's for the CJ model Jeeps not to mention part's and pieces from junkyard... Now granted... i come from what most people would call the "middle of nowhere" so i've never dealt with the Defender... but if you look at the four-wheeling community you'll see so many jeeps that it's not even funny... and there is a reason for this... they're a simple setup, and they're easy to modify... so I'm not picking a side on durability but for ease of modification... i'd pick the jeep.

The point is how they are built to begin with today BEFORE you spend a fortune modifying them. Long ago the CJ was a pretty tuff cookie and simple and sturdy but with each revision it became more of a 4x4 car until it got to where it is today, a yuppie commuter. You have to spend a lot of money on one to get back to its roots and before you do that you are better to find a old CJ model and restore it as it will cost less in long run the modding a newer one and you will have a better, truer "Jeep" in the end too.

i kinda like the defender, and angelina also but the cost is a little high just wouldn't be able to leave it alone.

I am useing Landrovers since 1977 and at this time I have one DEFENDER 90 and one Landrover 110 Pick-up. I have used almost all series of CJ and this time I have also CJ 4(M38) Model.1948. as I am Mechanical Engineer and I love 4X4 Jeeps only and I live in mountains and have also form, I found the best and durabil offroad jeeps or Landrovers Defender, and it is more easier to maintain and low costs in fuel, and in CJ is only CJ4(M38) is the Best.
