I have a complete low mileage 97 Chevy with a Vortec 350, and a 94 K2500 Suburban that needs a motor. Can anyone tell me if swapping the vortec into the Burb can be done fairly easily? I know the motor will bolt in, but will the Engine wiring harness fit my Burb? I would like to use the wiring for the 97 with the 97 computer. I am also worried about the tranny, my Burb has a 4L80E, I am not sure what tranny the 97 donor has.

If donor is a 1/2 ton, the tranny is a 4L60. If it is a 3/4 ton it is a 4L80. You will need wiring harness and ECM and you will need fuel pump system from Vortec to because TBI pump will not cut it. This can be done but it will not be easy. Bolting engine in will be the easiest part of it. I own both a TBI and a Vortec 350 and my favorite is the TBI as it has better lower RPM torque and res ponce where I spend most of my time. (I am not a WOT guy and rarely even get to 1/2 throttle or above even 3000 RPM)

Thanks, but I was snookered. The motor was missing from the donor truck. So that pretty much ends this thread

How did you not notice a little thing like that? Sucks, I agree, but it really ought to be pretty obvious...

I had not looked at the truck beforehand. It was delivered to my death row of vehicles while I was at work and supposedly complete.
