i have a 1980 gm short box 4by
with a skyjacker 6
and 3.5 body
on 38.5 buns
now the other day i saw a truck like mine and it was huge
soooo awsome and i was wondering if anyone carries like a 12-18 inch lift for my gm
i looked at whiplash but i had a whiplash 10 inch on my 96 ifs and i had nothing but trouble
any ideas
thanks

okay a 10 inc lift on a solid axle and a 10 inc on ifs is way different in terms of strength and reliablilty.  Also if u want to lift it 12 - 18 inc your going to really want to upgrade your axles, brakes and steering.  If your truck is a one ton then your axles just fine but with 40 inc + tires your brakes and sterring are going to be toast.  12-18 inc is hugh!!!!!!!!! do u really want it that big? i doubt your going to do any serouis off roading with that high of a lift.  A 12- 18 inc will have to be custum built since i doubt anyone has kits over 12 inc.s The truck is probabley going to ride like *** since your leaf springs are going to resemble a v shape and they will barely provide any flex.

solid axle chevys cant be beat

i hope you dont intend to climb anything with a lift that big, you will end up upside down in no time, my advice is keep your current lift, get out the sawzall and start trimming your fenders to add bigger tires, you will have a better center of gravity.

DUDE...IF YOU DO THAT IT LOOKS LIKE ITS JUST A SHOW RIG,HOPE YOU DONT RUN INTO ANY CURBS AT THE PARK TO SHOW IT BECAUSE YOU COULD FLIP OVER,BESIDE YOUR ARMS HAVE TO BE HUGE TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD AT THAT SIZE TOO

I would recommend looking at CST. I know they make some 8-10" lift for newer model GMs. They might have one that'll work for you as well.

skyjaker used to have a 12" for the 73-87's

I had one on a 78 blazer with 44's in the early 90's

i know superlift makes a 12" lift for the older chev's, my dad has a 79 jimmy with a 12" lift and it does not flex at all, so basically what you want is going to be either a mud machine, pavment pounder, or ball of scrape after you roll it. i would not suggest doin any higher than 8" spring lift.

'80 chev stepside,3/4 ton, 4 spd, 40" interco's, crazy flex, and one good driver lol
