You use skinny tires for a reason on a dualie so the side walls never rub. If they rub they will fail with time. If you really want wider tires you are going to need a different offset rim in rear that spaces tires further apart. Personally, I would not even bother with this mod.

I'm not a big fan of it either. It has been done, it can be done, but I wouldn't. If you are set of bigger tires, wait until you can afford the wheels/spacers to do it correctly and not potentially destroying two expensive tires and/or your fender.
I'm sure thats not the answer you wanted to here from us...

I know the tires cant rub thats why im asking if anyone knows whats the widest u can run before they rub. My dually would really benifit from a wider contact pacth becuase when im at glamis the heavey desiel engine sinks the front tires in the sand so i trying to plow though the sand instead of skimming over it like the back tires do. btw its a 04 dogde ram 3500 4x4

Do not take this wrong but if I wanted to run sand a lot it would not be with a 1 ton dually with a 1300 lb motor up front. If you want to try to make this work you have three choice here, First is custom rims and offsets for bigger tires (but this would make truck wider in rear too) Second choice (and most viable) is to get a separate custom rim and tire for front axle that would support a wider tire (HD dump trucks do this) and carry two spares, one for rear and one for front (though just a front spare would work because a flat on both duals is not likley). The third choice is get another 4x4 with a lighter motor up front for sand.

I know a heavy 1 ton truck is not the ideal sand choice but im not asking for dune buggy abilities i just want to be able to pull a trailer trhough the sand to camp and maybe drive around camp a little. Thats why i just want to know what is the widest size tire u can run on the dually before rubbing becomes an issue.
