No you should really look into replacing it with a solid axle as the TTB wasn't really ford's hottest idea, and there are plenty of ford donor vehicles to find out there so that is my suggestion for your rebuild.

TTB is actually not that bad of a system. I'm not sure why it got such a bad name.
What are you looking to do? You didn't say much. Just a general rebuild to freshen it up? The yea, bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, gear oil, things of the such.
For more performance? New heimed radius arms, extended beams, coilovers, all depends on what you want.

It has a bad wrap because it is a very primitive system! The killed the old VW beetle design because it had swing axles in rear that caused stability issues among other things. It is not that design is not somewhat durable, it is that it can handle poorly at times and tends to chew up front tires really quick too. Its short radius swing axle design causes wild changes in wheel chamber as suspension articulates and it also causes changes in track width while doing this which together with camber changes can cause squirrelly steering at times. It is arguably the worse front drive axle ever put on a 4x4 vehicle in modern times and helped contribute to the explorers tendency to roll with a tire failure. Ford finally quietly retired it after the explorer affair. It was long overdue.

Not true. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration didn't contact Ford about the tire failures and rollovers until May of 2000. At that point the TTB and TIB systems had been gone from Explorers for three years and Rangers for two. (Explorers in 1997 and Rangers in 1998 model years)
I don't know where you found all of that info on TTB's because most all of it is a wild exaggeration. Camber change stock is very minimal, bump steer is practically non existent, if properly aligned tires wear normally, and it had nothing to do with rolling Explorers, that has been argued for years and even shown to be a product of poor driver reaction when the Firestone tires blew.
You may have seen poorly built lift kits or home built systems. But a proper TTB kit will perform perfectly.
Riddle me this, if beams are so bad, why are they still to this day one of winningest suspensions in off-road racing? TIB AND TTB
(I'm an a-arm guy, I don't know why the *** I'm defending TTB's anyway)
